The Isle of Corsica is about 200 miles long and about 100 miles wide at widest and is very mountainous, Mountains comprise two-thirds of the island, forming a single chain. The Isle of Corsica has extensive marshes along the coasts and extreme mountains inland (with Monte Cinto as the highest peak at about 9,000 feet.). Corsica has been occupied by the Romans for the past two generations. Historically the isle of Corsica has been inhabited by the Greeks, Etruscans and Carthaginians. Both the Greeks and Etruscans created settlements. Many of these settlements have been reclaimed by the marshes or reused by the Romans.

The city of Aleria has a heavy naval contingency that patrols the waters between Corsica and the Greek and Egyptian domains. Other key towns are Ajaccio and Bastia.

  • High District
  • Low District
  • Riverfront District

Salted Oysters from Corsica are a delicacy desired by many in Rome. Other key exports from Corsica include Cheese, fruit, wine, olive oil, and tobacco.
